| Formada por membros de outras bandas da cena punk/HC de Valencia, WALLRIDE é liderada pela poderosa voz feminina de Laura. A banda começou a ficar conhecida em 1995, com uma demo de canções em espanhol. Entre as influências estão Circle Jerks, Gorilla Biscuits, Shelter, Agnostic Front e Cock Sparrer. Hoje a banda canta em inglês e inclui no repertório algumas covers de clássicos da Sham 69, Descendents e 7 Seconds. Em 1999 eles assinam contrato com o selo Bronco Bullfrog para o primeiro CD, WILL LAST FOREVER, e embarcam em turnê pela Espanha, França e Alemanha, dividindo palco com outros grupos de HC. O disco seguinte (mini-CD intitulado A FISTFUL OF SONGS) foi considerado por público e mídia um dos melhores lançamentos de 2000. O novo álbum, OLD WAYS FOR THE NEW TIMES, está saindo também pela Bronco Bullfrog em junho de 2001. Hoje em dia o interesse pela WALLRIDE vem de diferentes países, como Estados Unidos, Alemanha, Canadá, Hungria, Chile e Argentina, onde suas canções têm sido lançadas em coletâneas ou splits. No Brasil o primeiro CD sai com o título de O MELHOR DA WALLRIDE pela Rotten Records, um selo independente anteriormente dedicado à cena punk/Oi!, que agora redireciona seus projetos prioritariamente para o público HC. Coming after the split of some bands from Valencia HC/punk scene, WALLRIDE is led by a powerful feminine voice: Laura. The band start getting to be known in 1995, with some demo songs in Spanish. Among their influences are Circle Jerks, Gorilla Biscuits, Shelter, Agnostic Front and Cock Sparrer. Now their songs are sung in English, including covers of Sham 69, Descendents and 7 Seconds classics. In 1999 they sign up with Bronco Bullfrog Records for the first album (WILL LAST FOREVER) and embark on a tour through Spain, France and Germany, along with other HC groups. Their next release (the mini-CD A FISTFUL OF SONGS) was considered one of the best albums of 2000 by media and public. WALLRIDE's new album OLD WAYS FOR THE NEW TIMES is being released in June 2001 also on Bronco Bullfrog Records. Nowadays the interest for WALLRIDE comes from different countries like USA, Germany, Canada, Hungary, Chile and Argentina, where their songs have been released in compilations and split albums. In Brazil the first album is being released under the title O MELHOR DA WALLRIDE (The Best of WALLRIDE), by Rotten Records, an indie label formerly dedicated to punk/Oi! scene which is re-aiming its projects primarily toward HC audiences. | CHEGAM AO BRASIL OS ASSASSINOS DA SANIDADE! Depois das bandas européias, finalmente a série "O melhor da" entra na vastíssima cena norte-americana. A primeira banda dos States em nosso selo faz o tipo de som que agrada aos fãs de Ramones e Dead Kennedys: ao mesmo tempo melódico, pesado e rápido. Influenciados pelas bandas de garagem dos 60 e pelo punk rock dos 70 e 80, os SANITY ASSASSINS se formaram em 87 no estado de Connecticut, mas o baixista Keith está na estrada desde 81, integrando várias bandas e mantendo seu selo Dagger Records há mais de duas décadas. Os Assassins abriram shows para grupos tipo Agent Orange e Alice Donut e colecionam uma das maiores discografias entre as bandas punks da costa leste: mais de 25 participações em coletâneas, do vinil ao CD, da Alemanha ao Japão, sem falar nos individuais de 7 polegadas. Os títulos próprios incluem a cassete "The Massacre" lançada no México, o CD "Resistance is useless" lançado na Inglaterra e um mais recente, auto-intitulado, lançado também na Inglaterra. Reformada em 2000, a banda volta com toda a força à cena punk e hardcore. Esta seleção inclui dez sons da fase atual e alguns anteriores. As covers, além do Elvis, são da Jack Tragic and The Unfortunates (outra banda local, de 82) e da Stich (da qual participou o guitarrista Andy, co-autor daquela música). Os Sanity Assassins têm sido convidados até para trilha sonora de filmes, entrevistados pelos periódicos mais especializados (tipo MAXIMUM ROCK'N'ROLL) e mencionados em livros (como ECHOES IN TIME de Tim Gassen e HEX FILES de Mick Mercer). SANITY ASSASSINS ARRIVE IN BRAZIL! After the European bands, finally the series "O melhor da" (The best of) enters into the wide American scene. The first band from the States under our label plays the kind of sound which pleases to the Ramones and Dead Kennedys fans: at the same time melodious, heavy and fast. Influenced by the garage bands of the Sixties and by the punk rock of the Seventies and Eighties, the SANITY ASSASSINS were formed in 87 in Connecticut state, but the bassist Keith is on the road since 81, being part of several bands and running his label Dagger Records longer than two decades. The Assassins opened shows for groups like Agent Orange and Alice Donut and collects one of the largest discographies among the punk bands of the East Coast: over 25 collaborations in compilations, from vinyl to CD, from Germany to Japan, not mentioning the 7 inches singles. Their own titles include the cassette "The Massacre" released in Mexico, the CD "Resistance is useless" released in England and more recently, another CD(self-titled) released also in England. With a new line-up in 2000, the band is back full-powered to the punk and hardcore scene. This selection includes ten songs of the present phase plus some of the previous phase. The covers, besides Elvis', are of Jack Tragic and The Unfortunates (another local band, of 82) and of Stich (in which the guitarist/composer Andy has participated). The Sanity Assassins has been invited even to movies soundtracks, interviewed by the most specialized magazines (like MAXIMUM ROCK'N'ROLL) and cited in books (such as ECHOES IN TIME by Tim Gassen and HEX FILES by Mick Mercer). It was about time for them to be recognized in Brazil. |
